Dr. Jason Gearhart grew up in St. Charles, Missouri, and graduated with honors from the University of Missouri-Columbia, earning a degree in Exercise Science and a Doctorate in Physical Therapy in 2014. His distinguished credentials include a fellowship from Washington University in St. Louis, the #1 ranked school in the nation for physical therapy. A passionate tennis player, Jason moved to Kansas City to work in a high-level sports rehabilitation setting where he developed his unique approach to physical therapy. Over time, he realized there was a better way to approach physical therapy than what traditional clinics typically offer. Jason’s vision led him to open Vital Six Physical Therapy and Performance, where he serves as both owner and physical therapist, bringing innovative and personalized care to the Kansas City community from his clinic located in Kansas City, MO.

At Vital Six, Dr. Gearhart wears many hats and specializes in creating personalized treatment plans that help people recover faster, move better, and get back to doing what they love without unnecessary delays. His methodical and skillful approach focuses on understanding the mechanics of each patient’s body to properly diagnose injuries and provide the most effective treatment. Dr. Gearhart particularly enjoys treating chronic low back pain, chronic knee pain, femoral acetabular impingement, and shoulder impingement. Beyond direct patient care, he focuses on building a practice that challenges the traditional norms of physical therapy by implementing innovative techniques, staying on the cutting edge of the field, and fostering a culture of excellence within his team. His patients consistently report significant improvements within just a few sessions compared to months of traditional therapy, with many noting that he identified issues that previous therapists had missed. Patients praise not only his technical expertise but also his “personality of gold” that leaves them in the best mood after each appointment.

Outside of the clinic, Jason has established deep roots in Kansas City’s Brookside neighborhood with his wife Sarah, whom he met during his time in Kansas City. Together, they welcomed their first child, William, and share their home with their beloved dog, Remmy. His life is guided by three core values: perseverance to overcome obstacles and push through challenges; freedom to shape his life and career in alignment with his values and goals; and excellence as the standard he holds himself to in everything he does. These values drive both his approach to patient care and his personal life. Dr. Gearhart is committed to continuous improvement and never settling for “good enough,” which is why he’s pursued advanced techniques and built a practice that delivers results far beyond industry norms. When not working, Dr. Gearhart enjoys tennis, disc golf, spending time with his family, reading current books like “Nurture Shock” and “The Anxious Generation,” and exploring different foods and drinks. He also enjoys podcasts like “The Game” by Alex Hormozi and “First Things First.”

Finally, real results worth every dime!

I originally visited Jason because I had re-injured my rotator cuff. This injury has been an ongoing issue for almost three years, making it difficult to exercise and sleep. When I originally injured my rotator cuff, I visited 2 physical therapists. I did experience moderate improvement with their help; however, it took nearly six months of ongoing visits and exercises. By comparison, within my first 2 visits with Jason, I experienced significant improvement, and by the 4th visit, I had no more pain.

Jason took a different approach, he says my movements where the pain was and also understood what my goals were.
